Sustainability Month

October is Sustainability Month at Try Deas

Sustainability was here before the first bag.

Before Try Deas was a roasted nut company, it was an idea about caring for creation. Louis started the brand believing the earth is a gift we're responsible for, and that a food company could live that out in ordinary, everyday ways. The very first product he dreamed up was a breakfast cup of oats and pecans, made to start a morning well and leave very little behind.

The business grew in a different direction, and we're grateful for where it led. This month we're going back to where we started and asking what sustainability looks like for us now.

It keeps coming back to community

A thing lasts when people keep showing up for it. That's been true of Try Deas from day one. Grandad was a farmer, and the family still knows how to plant, so cousins carried bags home after the reunion and now place them in shops in their own cities. Neighbors on the BeltLine stop by the container week after week. Local makers and growers share tables with us, and customers bring friends to taste what they love.

That's the kind of sustainability we believe in most: the kind that grows when people take care of each other and come back again. A business that's rooted in a neighborhood doesn't need to keep starting over.

What we're doing this October

  • Paper at the container and our events. When you buy from us in person this month, at the BeltLine container or one of our pop-ups, your nuts go home in a paper bag instead of plastic. It's a test, and you're part of it.
  • Teaming up with eLo. Our BeltLine neighbors at eLo are partnering with us on a sustainability bundle and a night at the container. Details land on our Events page soon.
  • The Jar of Joy is coming. A glass jar you personalize, fill with your favorite flavors, and bring back for refills. It's the start of Reserve, our membership for the people who keep coming back.

How you can be part of it

  • Come see us in person. Find the container or catch us at our next event.
  • Bring somebody with you. Every new neighbor at the table makes this stronger.
  • Give your paper bag a second life, and tell us how it holds up by tagging @trydeasnuts.

Thank you for growing this with us.
